2. What is Reflexology?

This is Sand's speciality. According to Reflexology, the feet, hand and ears all represent the body in a map in miniature. All the organs, glands and body parts can be found as reflexes and treated. By stimulating these reflexes, the body is encouraged to heal itself and to regain balance. Therefore Reflexology is not only v e r y relaxing, but it also promotes health! Sand mainly practices this modality on the feet, sometimes also offering it on hands and ears.

3. What does Feet Reading mean?

Feet Reading has been practised in China and India for more than 5,000 years. It stems from the belief that the feet act as a mirror to the rest of the body. Any lumps, calluses or pain in the feet are indicative of problems elsewhere. The arches, for example, are linked to the spine, so a fallen arch will often indicate a back problem. Besides physical ailments, I can also tell a lot about someone's personality by reading their feet, as the mind and body are inextricably linked. All the chakras are represented in the toes and the shape, texture, colour and general feel of your feet will tell me a lot about you. For example, a large gap between the big toe and the second one usually indicates that the person has trouble with immediate decisions. These people might agree to something one day and after a day or two, they realise they might have taken on too much or something that they don't like and all of a sudden find themselves in a situation where they don't know whether they should proceed or cancel, leaving them with feelings of guilt and shame. In this situation Feet Reading can teach the person to always take their time with decisions. Likewise, for the person that meets someone with a larger gap between the first two toes - you will just know to give the person more time with decisions to receive a more accurate and authentic answer. 4. What is my role as a "physical, emotional and energetic reader"?

My approach is a bit like the one of a personal translator. I read the body and all its signs on as many levels as possible. Then I "translate" all physical, emotional and energetic signs I perceive into a language that can be understood in a more straight forward way by the person that is being "read". (Read more in my Blog..)

5. What is Acupressure?

Chinese Acupressure Massage is an ancient healing art evolved from the folk therapy to alleviate diseases without the use of drugs or instruments. It relies solely on the techniques of the therapist's hands being applied to the body surface of the patient. Pressure gets applied to so-called "Acupoints" along 14 Meridian lines all over the body. At the core of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the belief that the human body possesses an innate harmony or internal balance. TCM aims to treat not only the presenting complaint, but also looks for the cause of a problem. Rather than concentrating on easing symptoms temporarily, the emphasis is on treatment of the whole person. This means taking into account the body mind responses: the physical symptoms and the person's inner feelings. All areas of life can have an influence on the quality of the flow of energy through the body. For example, the symptoms of how you feel about becoming sick can be just as important as the illness itself. By treating the body-mind as one integral whole, the free flow of qi (energy), blood and body fluids between the organs and meridian pathways gets facilitated. When the body exists in a state of harmony and balance you will feel good - and experience a sense of well-being.

6. What pressure do you use?

I use a firm pressure. Generally it can be described as 6 out of 10, with 0 being no pressure and 10 being very painful. It's a "good pain". Every individual is different, some like it strong, others prefer a lighter pressure. I listen to every individual's needs. I use a locally made massage balm made out of essential oils, to allow the treatment to flow and further assist the muscles to relax. For Reflexology sessions, I use my own Reflexology Lotion which has got a vegetable base with a blend of high quality essential oils added.

7. What are Australian Bush Flower Essences?

"Flower Essences are not therapeutic drugs - but work on the mind, body and spirit and are obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the most evolved part of the plant - the flowers. They work on an emotional level, harmonising negative feelings and belief patterns, held in the subconscious mind. Therefore they are catalysts to unlock your full potential, resolve negative beliefs and create emotional health and well-being. When this happens the negative beliefs and thoughts are dissolved, balance is restored and true healing occurs." Ian White, Founder of ABFE

8. Do you sell herbs and supplements?

At this point in time, I don't currently offer a herbal dispensary anymore. However, I'm happy to refer you or point out where you could purchase the herbs and supplements I recommend for you to take, if so indicated.

9. What do you charge?

My fees vary, depending on what type of Session you choose. For a quick overview, visit my Bookings/ Contact Form and use the drop down menu bar. Alternatively, all current prices are listed on my Work With Me and Workshop pages.

My first full Session is generally discounted (see 1st Visit Discount) and I offer a Referral System (see Question No. 11), as well as Health Fund Rebates. Business Mentoring Invoices are available, if applicable, and are tax deductible.

Shorter and longer sessions may also be available, so please feel free to ask and talk to me when you make your booking. The preparation of Australian Bush Flower Essences is $15 a dosage bottle. Please ask during your consultation or feel free to fill in the contact form.

10. Do you offer Health Fund Rebates?

Yes. I'm a professional member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) which offers health fund rebates to most Health Funds. Please check prior, if you are eligible. Once you have paid the full amount, you will receive an invoice via email with which you will be able to claim a portion back from your health fund, if you are eligible.

11. Do you have a referral system in place to save on treatment and consultation costs?

Yes, I've got a referral system! First of all, I offer a fairly large discount on your first session (ie. Reflexology & Feet Reading Sessions are only $130 instead of $150 and Footprint Analysis Sessions are currently on special for $160 instead of $190).

If you then refer a friend (they need to mention you when they see us), you will receive AUD $20 off your next 1.5 hour session. Of course they will also receive their usual 1st visit discount. So the more people you tell about us, the more savings to be made! That way everyone wins :)

Note: these discounts are only available for one on one sessions, not for workshops, products or tinctures and are non transferable.

12. Is there anything I need to do before a consultation?

For the maximum benefit of your Session, please arrive on time, do not consume foods and drinks just before you come (e.g. 1 hour) and avoid treatment when excessively fatigued, hungry, or shortly after consuming alcohol, coffee or a large meal. Also, it will assist me greatly in reading your feet and energy, if you don't consume any alcohol in the night prior to our Session.

It is recommended to drink lots of water after a treatment, to flush out any toxins and to increase the results plus help you with the integration of your Session.

13. Where can I find you and how do I book a consultation?

I offer Sessions from our home clinic at Mount Coolum at the Sunshine Coast and from the Eumundi Markets every Wednesday. Please check my Bookings / Contact Form for all available days and times. For bookings, fill in the same form or call 0400 716 680. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Yes there is. If you live locally and you would like to avoid shipping costs, please leave a note on check out under "comments"/ "note to Sand" and let me know of your intention to pick up. Note: your request of local pick up will need to be confirmed by me first. If a pick up is not possible or doesn't fit into a suitable time frame, I reserve the right to charge for shipping anyway (of course I will notify you beforehand).
